He is a kind, patient, and skilled horseman and instructor. The horses were exceptional, happy, and healthy. I made forever friends and memories. Pedro and Liza’s hospitality is unmatched, we immediately felt at home. Everyone raves about the fresh food in Europe but we had a very special experience sharing meals with the farm family complete with oranges fresh from their trees and wine from a winery they contribute their grapes. The horses are excellent, of course, and they have horses suitable for all levels and goals. I wanted to work hard on improving my riding and boy did I work! The horses are generous and steady, but well trained such that if you don’t ask correctly they will tell on you! This was a perfect mix of fun and learning. Our visit overlapped the first days of the Golegã feira and that is an event that must be seen to be believed, fantastic! I’m trying to plan my next visit already, but first we are hosting Pedro for a clinic in the US!”

I came to Equiliberdade after a long period of feeling insecure around horses and unsure if riding was still for me. Within just a few days, that started to change. The instruction is structured and focused on building solid foundations, with a strong emphasis on safety and clear communication. The Lusitano horses are well-trained, responsive, and suitable both for regaining confidence and for developing further in dressage. What I appreciated most is that this is a genuine working farm, not a commercial “tourist setup.” There is a sense of authenticity in how things are done, and the horses are handled with consistency and attention.
